How does SoftCom
Global Dial-up service work ?
When you sign up for the SoftCom Global Dial-up service, you get one dial-up
Internet access account. You can dial up and connect to the Internet from
any one of the Points of Presence on the global network located in major
business centers around the world using your SoftCom Global service username
and password. Once logged in, you will be able to send and retrieve your
email messages, as well as send and receive files.
Though WorldCom is continually expanding its global coverage and improving the performance of its network, the maximum modem speed supported will vary from country to country. Each International PoP currently supports modem speeds of at least 28.8 Kbps. SoftCom cannot guarantee the availability of any PoP, though in all cases we will endeavor to keep the PoP list accurate and complete. Access numbers are also liable to change. Please refer to the International PoP list for the current details before you travel.
What is a POP and what
information will I need to know to connect to the Internet? How much will it probably cost me to dial up to my account from a
foreign country? There is no roaming charges for Global Dial-up Internet Access Service.
You can connect to the Internet without any extra charges from any one
of 2900 locations . You are only responsible for any additonal phone charges
when dialling a number outside a local area . For additional assistance
on determining these charges, please check the list of numbers you can
call in the area you will be travelling to, and then contact the local
telephone company for applicable tariffs. If, for example, you are travelling
to Paris, France from New York, you can log on to the Internet by dialling
a local number in Paris. You would not need to pay SoftCom an additional
charge for using the ISP connection in Paris. Everything on-line and instantaneous Our Global Dial-up Internet Access Service is completely on-line. You
can signup and activate your account right
away, without waiting. Forgot your password? Just assign a new password
through our support pages and go on-line. Check how
many hours you have been on-line. If you do not require the account, you
can terminate
