6 -) Name Server Information:

Erase all the information under "Optional Information", if any.

7 -) Click on "Submit this form for processing" and wait until you see a confirmation that the form is received by Internic.

8 -) Upon submitting the transfer application you will receive an e-mail from Internic with the Subject Line " MODIFY DOMAIN yourdomainname " . Reply to that e-mail without making any changes in the body of the e-mail.

9 -) Step 8 will initiate the transfer and Internic will send two acknowledgment e-mails to your domains contacts, namely to the administrative and technical contacts. You must have access to administrative contact e-mail for your domain so that you can acknowledge the transfer by properly replying to this e-mail.

10 -) Technical contact for the domain is usually your current hosting company and one of the two acknowledgement e-mails go to their technical staff. The technical contact has to acknowledge the transfer as well so that Internic can approve the transfer. There is a way to override the technical contact authority in case they are not acknowledging the transfer requests by you ( Refer to the problems&solutions with transfers).

11 -) When both contacts acknowledge the transfer, Internic will send you a confirmation that your domain's transfer is complete. Please forward this confirmation to hostmaster@softcomca.com.

Read on if you are having any troubles for problems & solutions.

PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS

Case I - Even though I am the owner of the domain, I have not received any correspondence from Internic as to the transfer of my domain.
1 -) You no longer have access to the e-mail that you registered the domain with. Internic recognizes that e-mail address as the administrative authority to verify any modifications to the domain, including transfers. When you apply for a domain transfer, one of the two transfer acknowledgement e-mails goes to that e-mail account ( administrative contact) and as the administrative contact you have to acknowledge the transfer by appropriately replying to this e-mail. If you don't have access to this e-mail account, your transfer will not go through.

Remedy : If you no longer have access to that e-mail address, you can submit verification, via fax, that you are authorized to make changes in the record. The fax must be on letterhead from the organization listed as the Registrant in the WHOIS database (this is the organization that is listed at the top of the WHOIS record), and must be signed by an individual with apparent authority to legally bind the registrant. Please use the form at http://rs.internic.net/fax/domform.html to create an authorization letter. Alternatively, you can contact Internic at 703-742-4777 to ask for assistance in updating your domain's contact information.

Case II - I have received the transfer acknowledgment e-mail from Internic and replied to it properly but no word from Internic since then.
1 -) Technical contact for your domain, this is your current Hosting company, did not acknowledge the transfer.

Remedy: You can send your Hosting company an e-mail and request them to acknowledge the transfer. Alternatively, you can call Internic at 703-742-4777 and complete your transfer on the phone, overriding the technical contact authority. In case you need our technical info ( Internic staff may request it):
